Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is a community of believers that has gathered in Northbrook since 1956. The congregation is founded in the Lutheran tradition and is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Metropolitan Chicago Synod (ELCA), Northbrook Clergy Association, and ReconcilingWorks. We are committed to learning and following the ways of Jesus Christ and to serving our community.
We believe that worship is not just an hour on Sunday but an offering to God of our entire week. We pray that these gatherings of community to celebrate God’s Word, indeed direct us 24/7 towards God’s Kingdom. Join us to experience and share God’s Word through prayer, scripture, art, music, and Holy Communion.
We are a community formed by God and given identity in Jesus Christ, passionately pouring out our lives in grateful response to God’s abundant grace. As a community of faith, we celebrate our identity in Christ and join in God’s redemptive work in the world. Because every one of us is given the gift of the Holy Spirit, overflowing with God’s grace and light, full of gratitude and a spirit of collaboration, we believe:
Gloria Dei is a community
Freed by Grace:
to Serve Generously
to Love Inclusively
to Provide Sanctuary
to Bring Hope
